The crib must have a forcefield or something

Megan has been able to roll from her back to her tummy and back over to her back for several weeks now. In fact, she does this multiple times a day while she is playing on her various mats.

About 4 days ago she started rolling onto her tummy while she was in her crib. This shouldn't be a problem, because after all she can get off of her tummy. But oh no, there must be some sortof force field that gets activated once she is on her tummy in her crib, because she thinks she is stuck. Yes, no matter how long we give her to try to get off of her tummy she can't do it if she is in her crib.

What's so funny about a sippy cup?

We have been working with Megan for a few weeks to introduce the sippy cup. In the beginning she didn't know what to do with it, after a few days she would actually drink some water from it.

For the past 1 to 1 1/2 weeks every time you put the sippy cup to her lips she laughs.

Today I took it away and and she stopped and as I approached her mouth again - laughing. It is very cute.

Sign Language - Milk

We have been teaching Megan sign language for several words. We use the sign for milk, food, all done, mom, dad; along with several others.

It has been apparent for several weeks that Megan understands some of the signs as she responds - i.e. when we are done eating and I do the sign for "all done" she will stick her tongue out - she likes for me to wipe off her tongue while we clean her face.

Well, yesterday for the first time when I made the sign for milk, not only did she get excited and open her mouth she made the sign back. :-)

What a trooper

We are back from Megan's appointment to get 2 immunization shots. Our little one is such a trooper - she cries for about a minute and then she is good to go.

And, what a memory she has. This is her second time to go to the doctor's office just to get shots (we are catching up). When the nurse walked in and started cleaning her legs, Megan started fussing - she knew what was coming.

Anytime someone hurts her Megan yells at them when she sees them again. Thankfully we were able to sneak out of the office without her seeing the nurse again.

She has been very vocal on the ride home after the shots visit. I have a feeling she is telling us how she feels about what just happened.

Catching up to current

Megan is 7 1/2 months old now. She continues to delight us with everything she can do. It seems like she learns something new every day.

We bought her some Christian CDs for the car and she loves them. She "sings" along with some songs, squeals with delight at others and "claps" for others. Will and I have a difficult time talking because we stop so much mid-sentence to listen to her.

A couple of days ago she started raising her arms to us when we go to pick her up - so sweet. At this point she only does it once or twice a day so we really enjoy it if it is "our turn" to get this gesture.

Something else she has started doing is getting so,very excited to see us. She has always reacted to seeing us, but lately it is an arm-flapping, smiling/laughing good time when we walk into the room. Gotta love it when your little one is overjoyed to see you.

She continues to teethe - but no teeth just yet. You can feel 4/5 of them and see them under the surface, but none have broken through yet.

She can sit without support for up to 20 seconds without leaning over now. She loves to sit up and will sit up endlessly if propped up and be content to just be there.

Megan loves to eat - she has taken whatever we give her. She has now had butternut squash, carrots, acorn squash, sweet peas and green beans.

She is inching her way out of 3-6 month clothes - she can still wear most of them, but it won't be long before we need to move up a size.
