Toy milestone

Today, for the first time, I had to make a toy taller. One of the toys that she stands in is now too short for her and I had to raise it further off the ground. I can remember not too long ago she couldn't even touch the floor in that toy.

Such a big girl!

Don't leave me phase

Megan is very much in the "don't leave me" phase. She can be playing, having a great time (not even looking at me) and as soon as I leave the room she starts crying. If I talk to her from the other room she calms down.

This is new - she used to be just fine if I left the room. Hopefully it is a short phase - it is on the development checklist so I guess it is good she is going through it.

Swimming Pool

We bought Megan a little pool for the backyard and used it for the first time today. Megan enjoyed playing in the pool and had a great time even though the water was a little cool.

Various Updates

Megan happily ate chunks of banana and green beans yesterday. She didn't hesitate for a moment. She picked up a piece of banana twice but didn't quite connect with her mouth. She wasn't thrilled with the fact that it got stuck to her finger so she wouldn't touch anymore of it with her hands - but she opened wide to ask for another bite from me.

Some time during the night Megan's 2nd tooth broke through right beside the other one she has on the bottom. I didn't realize it had happened until I saw it late this morning- she didn't have any issues with it at all - praise God for that.

She is such a smart little peanut. When she reaches for something with her hand and she can't get it she will use her leg/foot to help her grab it. She also does the opposite - she loves to kick things so she often pushes things down to her waist and then lifts her leg up to kick it.

Daddy's day

Today was Will's first Father's Day. Megan made me a set of bookends with her handprints on them and a tile with her footprints on it. We went to the zoo and man it was hot- the zoo is beautiful but is completely enclosed in trees, which translates to no breeze.

Megan did amazing even though she was hot and tired. She eventually fell asleep and we decided to get her out of the heat and head home.

We went to dinner and she did great there as well. Such a good little girl and so patient.

Such a good sitter

Megan has become so good at sitting up. She can reach out and play with toys while maintaining her balance. She has also learned to stablize herself when she gets wobbly. So proud of her.

Finger Foods

Today Megan ate several cheerios and peas (cut in half). She did an awesome job and acted like she had been eating them all along.

Tinkling on Daddy

Will is always so "brave" when he changes Megan's diaper - he takes her diaper off and takes his sweet time putting another diaper on her. Well, tonight it finally caught up with him. He was changing her and was in between diapers and she proceeded to pee on him - she has this amazing ability to pee up in the air and hit him in the leg. We had a good laugh about it, cleaned everyone up and got a new diaper (because she got the outside of the other one wet).

He went to put it on her and she peed on him again - I literally fell in the floor I was laughing so hard. She just layed there looking at us like "what's up".

So stinking funny.

Cantaloupe & Strawberries & Another hearing test

Today Megan ate 1 piece of cantaloupe for breakfast. She attempted a second piece but when it came out of her mouth she wouldn't let me put it back in.

She had 2 pieces of strawberry at lunch but after choking on the 2nd piece she wouldn't take anymore. I can completely understand this.

She had her 4th hearing test today. She started out with a behavioral test where she sits in my lap in a room and there is a audiologist facing her. Someone outside the room plays sounds/talks into different speakers and they check to see if Megan looks toward the sounds. She did perfectly. The only time she didn't respond was when the lady in the room with us was being too entertaining. I told her that if Megan is concentrating on something I can practically yell her name and she won't look at me. So after that she was less entertaining and it worked great.

They then took us to another room to test the higher frequency sounds by putting a probe in her ear and playing sounds and testing Megan's brain response. The only problem with this test is the subject has to remain completely still (yah right) and completely quiet (no way). Megan would look around and try to use her shoulder to get the probe out of her ear causing it to come loose and them to have to reset it repeatedly. So, the audiologist would try to distract Megan to get her to stay still, by playing with her - which of course made Megan laugh. Needless to say that portion of the test was a complete failure. They want us to come back again to try it again but I am not going to do it until she is much older- the lady thinks she knows Megan better than me and is convinced that if I will make a morning appointment Megan will be still and quiet. Ahahahahaha.

Megan is 10 months old today and such a beautiful little girl. We can see another tooth starting to surface right beside the one she already has - who knows how long it will take for it to come through.
