We have been working with Megan to get her to use her legs to stand and jump. Her legs barely reach the floor in most of her toys so we bought a Johnny Jumper that hangs in the doorway. We were able to make it low enough for her legs to fully reach the floor. She will rest her legs on the floor and push off to turn around. This is a big step for her - she usually just holds both legs in the air.
Today, she was in the freestanding jumper and for the first time pushed off of the floor with her legs to make herself bounce. She got so excited that she squealed and then picked both legs up and made herself bounce several times (what she normally does). After she calmed down she put her feet back on the floor and thought about it for a minute and pushed off again with the same excited, bouncy result. It was so cute.
I have been working with her to get "cheerios". She doesn't want to hold them, she just lets them go so that they fall out of her hand. And prior to today every time I put one in her mouth she just left her tongue sticking out with the cereal on it until I took it off for her. Today I managed to get one in her mouth and get her to shut her mouth. She just sat there, doing nothing, looking at me for a couple of minutes. Finally she started "chewing" it and was very excited about it. Eventually I pushed her "button" to get her to stick out her tongue so I could see if it was gone -- it was. I gave her another one but she didn't want it - no matter what I did she spit it out. Oh well - 1 fully eaten "cheerio".

Prunes & Multigrain Cereal
Megan had prunes for the first time yesterday and enjoyed several bites again today. She started a new multi grain cereal today as well.
She LOVES to eat - I love the fact that we haven't found anything she doesn't like.
She is still not on board with the "cheerios". She will hold it and then just drop it and when I put one on her tongue she sticks her tongue out and just leaves it there with the cereal sitting on it until I take it off. Too cute.

We have a tooth
Megan finally had a tooth break through during the night. When she got up this morning there was a very small tooth that was very sharp.
She is such a smart little peanut - she puts the burp cloth between her fingers and the tooth before she bites down on them.

Bath time today
Megan is 8 1/2 months old and for the first time ever she tinkled in the bath. We both started laughing and let the water out of the sink. Will wrapped her in a towel while I cleaned the sink and filled if full of clean water.
Take two: just as I start washing her foot, she starts tinkling again. :-)
Oh what a fun bath day.

2 more shots down
Today was another visit with the nurse for 2 more shots. This time she didn't make a sound after the first shot but her eyes started welling up. And then after the second shot she started to cry, but stopped as soon as I picked her up.
Megan is sitting up more and more now. I am sure according to the developmental therapist what she does counts as conquering this milestone - she can sit for 3-4 minutes before she falls over if you distract her. If we don't distract her she falls over within a few seconds because she picks her legs up which flips her over.
