We have been working with Megan to get her to use her legs to stand and jump. Her legs barely reach the floor in most of her toys so we bought a Johnny Jumper that hangs in the doorway. We were able to make it low enough for her legs to fully reach the floor. She will rest her legs on the floor and push off to turn around. This is a big step for her - she usually just holds both legs in the air.
Today, she was in the freestanding jumper and for the first time pushed off of the floor with her legs to make herself bounce. She got so excited that she squealed and then picked both legs up and made herself bounce several times (what she normally does). After she calmed down she put her feet back on the floor and thought about it for a minute and pushed off again with the same excited, bouncy result. It was so cute.
I have been working with her to get "cheerios". She doesn't want to hold them, she just lets them go so that they fall out of her hand. And prior to today every time I put one in her mouth she just left her tongue sticking out with the cereal on it until I took it off for her. Today I managed to get one in her mouth and get her to shut her mouth. She just sat there, doing nothing, looking at me for a couple of minutes. Finally she started "chewing" it and was very excited about it. Eventually I pushed her "button" to get her to stick out her tongue so I could see if it was gone -- it was. I gave her another one but she didn't want it - no matter what I did she spit it out. Oh well - 1 fully eaten "cheerio".
