Afternoon session in the heat

Megan rode Daisy today for the first time in the afternoon.  Today was the hottest day we have had in a long time - 92 degrees.  Her session is inside an arena that only has 2 areas that are open to the outside.  The building was definitely warm.  I was a little warm sitting in front of an opening and I got a little breeze every once in a while.  Sam had a little heat rash hanging out on the blanket.  

Megan was riding a horse and wearing a helmet.  Megan wasn't warm, she was HOT.  When she was done with her session her face was bright red and she was hot.  I had them give her 2 drinks during her session but I am not sure how much she drank for them.  When she was off I gave her the cup and she drank for about 20 seconds straight.  I took her shoes/socks off of her and kept offering her water until she had finished off 1/2 of her cup.  

When we got home I turned on the ceiling fan and stripped both kids down to their diapers - something I never do.  They cooled off pretty quickly and loved being without clothing.  

Megan did great with her session.  She had so much fun and wasn't happy when it was time to get off of Daisy.  I didn't put her shoes on her when we got home because she was overheated and then it was time for dinner and bath, etc.  So tomorrow morning we should be back up and running.
