I am sure there will be many instances of this as Megan grows up but there was a poignant moment last night during dinner. The three of us were eating together - Will was feeding Megan so she was turned toward him. Megan was really struggling during dinner - she was throwing food on the floor, taking it out of her mouth, taking the fork from Will, etc. As you can imagine Will was starting to get frustrated so I used my fork to feed Megan a piece of squash. She ate it off of the fork without a problem so I went for piece number two.
Megan grabbed the piece of squash off of the fork, something she does from time to time, but instead of eating it she threw it across the room. I mentioned above that she was throwing food on the floor - all she has ever done is drop/throw food directly beside her chair or a little off to the side. But oh that is not what she did with the squash - she literally threw it over the kitchen table and about 5 feet across the room before it hit the floor. I was in shock, I was impressed and proud. I had to put my hand up to my mouth to keep from laughing and Will was looking at me like when are you going to correct her, but I just couldn't come up with the words so he had to do it. Later I told him that all I was thinking was, "man that was a heck of a throw".
We are looking forward to the day when she stops throwing food all together and we certainly hope last night's adventure was a one time affair.
